Girl allegedly 'distressed and pale' after ex-boyfriend 'stalked her'

A YOUNG girl allegedly stalked by her ex-boyfriend has been described as being ‘very distressed and pale’ when he showed up at her family’s home, a jury has heard.

Christopher Dudman, of Papist Way, Cholsey, is on trial at Oxford Crown Court this week charged with one count of stalking.

It is alleged that between April 16 and July 18, 2022, the 24-year-old stalked his former girlfriend including reportedly crying in his car outside her hour for an hour and calling her multiple times in a short period of time.

However, the taekwondo instructor has denied the charge.

Giving evidence from the stand on Thursday (July 4), a family member of the complainant described an incident where Dudman allegedly showed up at a house, causing her to ‘sob’.

She said: “[The girl] was crying, sobbing and when I was asked what she was wrong she said she had been having messages from Chris all morning.

“Chris arrived a short time afterwards, he could see him through the window. He was out there for a few minutes before [a family member] went out to see what he was there for.

“[The girl] was still sobbing. [The family member] went out and I couldn’t hear what was being said but I could see the body language going on and Chris appeared to be quite agitated and his movements were very jerky and his arms were moving around.”

She told the jury that that the family member then came back inside and Dudman allegedly came to the front door and was asking to see his ex-partner.

Continuing her evidence, the family member said: “He said he needed to see [the girl], ‘I need to see her, she needs to tell me we’re finished’ and he mentioned the same thing over and over.”

She said she then let Dudman in and he spoke to the girl in the kitchen.

“I could hear [her] crying,” she told the jury. “It just remained the same, it was just sobbing. I opened the door and said, ‘Are you okay’ and she seemed very distressed, very pale, she looked like she was going to faint.

“Chris seemed miserable.”

She said that herself and another family member then asked to Dudman to leave. It is alleged that he then sat in his car and cried.

“He didn’t want to go,” she said to the jury. “He was still pleading with [her].”

The trial continues this week.
