Gisele Bündchen's Erewhon Smoothie Tastes Like a PB&J 'Without the Carbs ... of Course' (Exclusive)
Gisele Bündchen spoke with PEOPLE about her new smoothie, which includes an immune-boosting ingredient she calls "my little secret weapon"
Gisele Bündchen is known for leading a healthy lifestyle and now she’s sharing some of her wellness secrets via a new smoothie.
The supermodel, who is an ambassador for Gaia Herbs, partnered with the brand and Erewhon to create the Giselderberry Boost Smoothie. It's available for purchase at the California grocery store locations, via the Erewhon app and through Uber starting Tuesday.
Bündchen spoke with PEOPLE to share all the juicy details on the healthy treat.
“This kind of reminds me of a peanut butter jelly kind of feeling without the carbs of the bread, of course,” says Bündchen.
The mom of two and author of the upcoming cookbook, Nourish, incorporated all of her "favorite things," including açai.
“Even in my cookbook, I gave my recipe for acai because everybody makes it differently,” she says of the fruit often made into smoothies and smoothie bowls. “But, coming from Brazil, I love it because it's a superfood. It has so many antioxidants.”
“Then I have coconut milk because I needed something liquid-y since the acai is frozen. And then I love bananas, potassium is great,” she adds. “I was trying to get something that was nutrient-dense, but that had, everything had something super nutritious and it was kind of like building on top of each other.”

Another essential ingredient in the smoothie is dates, which Bündchen says she includes in all of her desserts for the sweetness. Plant protein, almond butter and vanilla collagen are also packed in, but Gaia Herbs’ Black Elderberry Syrup is the ingredient Bündchen was most passionate about including within the recipe.
“The elderberry syrup is something I've been taking for 20 years. Elderberries are a great immune booster,” she says.
It’s also something that she regularly gives to her children to avoid colds. (She shares son Benjamin Rein, 14, and daughter Vivian Lake, 11, with her ex husband, Tom Brady.)
“When I lived in Boston ... that was my little secret weapon. So anytime [we] start getting a cold, I would just get all of us at the house just a big spoon of elderberry syrup in the morning before the kids went to school,” she says, adding, “and it really helped them not get sick.”
Eating healthy is something Bündchen is very passionate about. “Food is medicine,” she says. And her Erewhon project proves just that.
“[Smoothies are] better, I believe, in the morning because it makes you super full. After you eat it, you feel like you're done. You're good for the next four or five hours. It fills you up,” she says. “It's a meal. But it's a highly nutritious meal.”
Best of all, a portion of the proceeds from the Giselderberry Boost Smoothie are going to the Rodale Institute. The global non-profit is dedicated to growing the regenerative organic agriculture movement through research, farmer training, and education.
In September, Bündchen announced that more of her healthy innovations are coming in her first cookbook. Nourish will be released in March. The collection of 100 recipes and stories will include some of the hearty and healthy dishes she whips up at home for her family.
"I am so excited to announce my new cookbook," she captioned her Instagram post, alongside an image of the cookbook's cover. "People are always asking me what I eat and how I stay fit. Great food is something I am passionate about, and it is vital for living a healthy lifestyle."
She added: "In Nourish, I share my family’s favorite simple, nutritious and delicious recipes and some self-care rituals that help me so much in my life especially as a busy, working mom. I am happy that I get to share this cookbook with all of you! Hope you enjoy!"
