A west end couple are heartbroken after their BMW was broken into with a shovel and £4,000 worth of items were stolen from the vehicle.

Jonathon, 41, and Maya Brown are devastated after their BMW windows were smashed during the early hours on Sunday (July 7).

Maya, 32, says the culprit launched themselves at the BMW, parked on Cleveden Drive in the Kelvinside area, at around 12.45am and began taking items from the vehicle.

They later came back with a shovel and wrecked the rear windshield before carrying on with the theft of multiple items - both pricey and sentimental in value.

The items stolen include golf clubs and a leather bag. Now, the couple are prepared to offer a "large reward" to get all of the items back.

Maya told Glasgow Live: "The items have been saved for over many years, with presents from his late grandparents taken too. There was a putter from his children for his 30th birthday with his initials on it.

"His parents and I saved for a brand new leather bag which he got in May as he was trying to qualify for the Scottish open this year.

"Golf means the world to him and he keeps sentimental items from the children in his bag for competitions to give him luck. These have all been taken now.

"The car has been wrecked with the shovel and golf clubs with sentimental value have been stolen. We feel heartbroken and would happily offer a large reward to get everything back.

"It makes us feel unsafe."

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 9.10am on Sunday, 7 July, 2024, officers received a report of a break-in to and theft from a vehicle on Cleveden Drive, Glasgow.

“Enquiries are ongoing.”

Maya is now appealing for anyone with CCTV footage of the theft or the suspect to come forward. Anyone with information should contact Police Scotland on 101.
