Glasgow Clyde College student has bagged the gold medal award at the Craftex exhibition.

Wiktoria Budyta impressed the judges with her first-ever parlor guitar design, inspired by the works of Charles Rennie Mackintosh, and the Art Nouveau and Art Deco architectural elements she sees on her daily commute.

The seven judges agreed that her design and assembly demonstrated outstanding excellence in every stage of creating the parlor guitar.

Wiktoria said: “Winning the gold medal is incredibly rewarding and feels like a culmination of a very long journey.

“I'm glad my work has been recognised and I’m grateful for my tutors and my fellow students for creating an amazing environment in which I could study, hone my skills and push me out my comfort zone”

Craftex, organised by Trades House of Glasgow, is a yearly event that displays the quality and skills of Glasgow colleges’ students.

Spanning more than 50 categories, 350 students showcased their skills ranging from Graphics to Nail Art.

Robert Anderson, assistant principal at Glasgow Clyde College, said: “Craftex is a significant event for Glasgow Clyde College as it serves as a showcase for the diverse talents and skills of our students.

“This not only highlights the quality of education and training provided by the college but also our commitment to nurturing talent across various disciplines.

“We’re hugely proud of Wiktoria winning the gold medal at this year’s exhibition and it’s testament to the commitment and talent she’s demonstrated throughout her time at GCC.”
