Glasgow teen, 17, attacked on Sauchiehall Street by gang of men and women in early hours

A teenager was attacked by a gang of men and women during the early hours on Sunday, May 5, and was left needing hospital treatment.

The 17-year-old boy was walking along Sauchiehall Street, near to its junction with Hope Street, in the city centre, when he was set upon by the gang understood to be aged around 18 to 20 years old.

He was attacked at around 2.30am and left needing treatment at Glasgow Royal Infirmary. He has since been discharged.

Police Scotland has now launched an urgent appeal for information to trace the culprits.

The suspects, two of whom were men, ran off in the direction of Buchanan Street. They were all white and spoke with local accents.

One of the men was around 6ft and was wearing a Nike tracksuit. The other man was wearing a grey jacket with a white Palm Angels T-shirt.

Detective Constable Matthew McCann said: "We are appealing to any members of the public who were in the area at the time of the incident who can help with our ongoing enquiries.

"If you saw what happened, know those involved or where they went, then please get in touch."
