Glasgow's River Clyde searched by emergency services following incident

The River Clyde in Glasgow was being searched by emergency services following an incident on Monday evening.

Police and the ambulance service rushed to the scene on Clyde Street at around 6.20pm. Scottish Fire and Rescue were then called to the area by those in attendance.

Two appliances were mobilised to the scene and two water rescue teams were scrambled to the river.

The nature of the incident is not yet known, however, Scottish Fire and Rescue confirmed it was a police and ambulance matter.

Images taken from the banks of the Clyde show two boats in the water as well as a large section of the path near the water cordoned off.

Officers can also be seen looking over the railing down into the water.

A witness told Glasgow Live: "Police, fire and rescue in attendance at the Clyde.

"I asked the police woman if they were training or if it was real and she said it’s a real incident"

Police Scotland and the Scottish Ambulance Service have been contacted for comment.
