Tim Booth was causing a distraction during his Glastonbury Festival 2024 set as James entertained the revellers at the huge music event on its last day. The band, who formed in 1982 and hit the big time with singles including Sit Down and Come Home in 1990 and Laid in 1993, took to the Other Stage on Sunday afternoon (June 30).

The group, made up of Tim, Jim Glennie, Saul Davies, Adrian Oxaal, David Baynton-Power, Mark Hunter, Andy Diagram, Chloe Alper, Deborah Knox-Hewson, were able to bring the spirit of ‘Madchester’ to Worthy Farm before the festival came to a close for another year.

James kicked off their set by throwing everything they could at a rendition of Sound. Tim Booth later told the crowd: "No matter what is going on in this f**king crazy world... You’ve got to hold on to one thing: life's a f**king miracle."

The biggest hit of the set was, as expected, a sing-along to Sit Down, while Tim also enjoyed a spot of classic crowd surfing. Those watching the action unfold from the comfort of their own homes across the BBC as opposed to down in Somerset, they flocked to social media to share their James praise.

A real highlight for the ages. #Glastonbury." @roastbeefjohnny added: "Someone call the police , James are smashing up Glastonbury!!!!!! #Glastonbury."

But Tim did cause a distraction as the musician, sporting a fur coat and beanie hat, was given the same comparison. @jobelleapril said: "James taking me right back to the 90’s. Tim Booth looking more and more like Ben Kingsley these days. #Glastonbury." @FakeGlennMiller wrote: "Tim Booth going full Ben Kingsley in Sexy Beast. #Glastonbury."

@marting72906612 commented: "Great set by James with special guest Ben Kingsley on the Other Stage right now #Glastonbury #Glastonbury2024 #james." @RunningGrump added: "Good of Ben Kingsley to step in for the poorly Tim Booth at Glastonbury today #james #Glastonbury #Glastonbury2024."
