Glastonbury fans in tears as Coldplay bring on 'legendary' surprise guest

Glastonbury viewers were left in tears on Saturday night as Coldplay brought on a 'legendary' special guest

The group, fronted by Chris Martin, took to the stage with their fifth Glastonbury headline slot on the Pyramid Stage. The band rattled through hit after hit including Yellow, Adventure of A Lifetime and Viva la Vida.

Toward the end of the near two-hour-set lead singer Chris Martin introduced an extra-special guest - Hollywood actor and Back to The Future star Michael J Fox.

Michael, who has Parkinson's disease, came onto the stage to play guitar with the band for two songs including the smash hit Fix You. And it left many people watching at home feeling very emotional.

@slinehan1 wrote on X, formerly Twitter: "Awwwww wow Michael J Fox playing guitar with Coldplay is the most beautiful thing I've seen on all my years of watching #Glastonbury tbh. Fully crying." @melcastle1875 added: "Michael J Fox on stage with Coldplay. I'm not crying you are" while @afrobabeh said: "Coldplay brought out Michael J Fox , i'm not crying you are."

@PeteLinzey added: "So Coldplay bring out Michael J Fox and now this 39-year-old grown man is crying with emotion. Thanks a lot Coldplay. Thanks a bloody lot" while @paddyspants said: "Michael J Fox! Absolute legend".

Frontman Chris Martin, guitarist Jonny Buckland, drummer Will Champion and bassist Guy Berryman took to the stage following a busy Saturday line-up on the Pyramid Stage which has seen performances from Little Simz, Michael Kiwanuka, Keane, Cyndi Lauper and more.

They started their set with Yellow, from their 2000 album Parachutes and then followed up with their song of the night, Higher Power, from their ninth album, Music Of The Spheres
