Music fans heading to Glastonbury Festival this week are likely to miss a major event in the calendar this weekend, clashing with some of the event’s biggest names. As England’s Men's football team confirmed its spot in the Euros round of 16, the next game is set to take place on Sunday, June 30.

Scheduled for 5pm on Sunday, England’s game will clash with a few of the festival’s biggest names. Depending on which acts you’ll be watching this weekend, there will definitely be some run-ins.

It’s also important to remember that Glastonbury will not be screening any of the Euros, so you’ll have to attempt to stream it on your own devices - if you can. Service can be a particularly tricky feat at Worthy Farm.

England’s match on Sunday will clash with Pyramid Stage artists Janelle Monae, who’s scheduled to perform between 5.45pm to 6.45pm. The beginning of the match also collides with the end of the Legend’s Tea Time sport, which this year will be Shania Twain (3.45pm to 5pm).

On the Other Stage, the game will clash again with two acts. Nothing But Thieves will be on stage from 4.30pm to 5.30pm, followed by ‘Sk8er Boi’ singer Avril Lavigne (6pm to 7pm).

Jordan Rakei (5pm to 6pm) and Brittany Howard’s (6.30pm to 7.30pm) sets on West Holts will also run in with England’s round of 16 game, as will Alvvays (5pm to 6pm) and Kim Gordon’s (6.30pm to 7.30pm) performances on Woodsies.

Back in May, the festival announced it would not be screening Euros 2024 games this year. In previous years it has attempted to show football matches on big screens before the main stages open, but as the Round of 16 games take place either on Saturday or Sunday, this year it won’t be possible.

Glastonbury Festival wrote: “Should England or Scotland’s men’s teams qualify from the group stages of this summer’s European Football Championships in Germany, their matches in the Last 16 of the tournament could take place on the Saturday or Sunday evening of this year’s Festival.

“In previous years, we have endeavoured to show notable matches on big screens where possible, particularly on days before the main stages have opened. However, with England and Scotland’s Last 16 matches potentially clashing with headline sets at this year’s Festival, the decision has been made that – as in 2014 and 2016 – should England or Scotland qualify from their groups, their Last 16 matches will not be shown at the Festival.

“It won’t be known until the week of the Festival whether or not England or Scotland will actually play a match during the Festival. But, as we have already been asked about our plans, we wanted to let everyone know well in advance that the decision has been made not to screen the potential matches.”

It added a wish of good luck to England and Scotland’s teams ahead of the tournament, saying: “We would like to wish both Gareth Southgate and Steve Clarke’s sides all the best in Germany. And we hope we’ll all be able to watch them play Quarter Final matches in the days after this year’s Festival.”

Scotland failed to make it out of Group A after losing to Hungary earlier this week.
