The votes have been counted and Gloucester knows the name of its MP for the next Parliament. Voters in the constituency backed Alex McIntyre to represent the city and some of its suburbs.

The result was announced as a Labour landslide was building. Previous MP Richard Graham was the third county Tory to lose their seat in the early hours of Friday.

In Stroud, Siobhan Baillie lost her seat and then Alex Chalk lost in Cheltenham. Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer is set to be the next Prime Minister.
