Gloucester Rugby confirm seven departing players ahead of the 2024/25 season, including top loosehead prop

Gloucester Rugby have bucked the trend around the Gallagher Premiership so far this season and confirmed that just five senior players will leave the club this summer with a further two moving on from the senior academy.

Having made several announcements already, loosehead prop Harry Elrington is that standout name amongst the five players confirmed as moving on with fly-half Adam Hastings' move to Glasgow Warriors, winger Alex Hearle's move to Newcastle Falcons, and hooker Santi Socino's departure to Agen already confirmed. Earlier in the week the club also confirmed that former England winger Jonny May will also leave Kingsholm in June with a move overseas likely.

Elrington joined Gloucester from London Irish in 2021 and has made 59 appearances in Cherry amd White, competing for the looshead berth with Val Rapava Ruskin, Jamal Ford-Robinson and Mayco Vivas over the last couple of years.

Senior academy players Rob Nixon and Will Gilderson will also move on this summer.

Absent from the list of departing players is a scrum half, with several sources indicating the club were willing to part ways with one of their half-backs with George Skivington's squad seemingly overstocked in that area ahead of the 2024/25 season with Welsh international Tomos Williams arriving as the club's first choice, with Italian international Stephen Varney, Charlie Chapman and Caolan Englefield for competition.
