Gogglebox stars Giles and Mary have been married for over 30 years, with nine of those years spent gracing our television screens from their cosy Wiltshire abode cheekily known as 'The Grottage'. The couple candidly share their views on the Channel 4 hit show yet, surprisingly, peace descends when the cameras cease to roll.

Earlier this year, Giles disclosed his lockdown experience with his wife during an interview with Idler. He shared: "You see, I've had six months of not talking to anyone. That's the thing about living in the country, who do you talk to? With the local pub closed and no church visits, who am I supposed to converse with? ".

The suggestion of communicating with Mary drew a response from Giles: "Mary hardly talks to me, we're incompatible."

Their discussions are confined to nightly TV show selections as Giles feels: "We're distracting our lives away.", reports the Liverpool Echo. Their marital hiccups aren't a recent reveal.

Mary previously quipped: "The thing about Giles is he's 48% bad but 52% good. It gets worse every year".

Presently, Giles, Mary, and the rest of the Gogglebox family are enjoying a breather following series 23's finale earlier this month. Friday night viewers are being entertained by Celebrity Gogglebox on Channel 4, anticipating the original versions comeback in September.
