Gogglebox couple Giles and Mary have been married for three decades, and have spent the last nine years of that on our TV screens.

The two live together in their Wiltshire home, nicknamed The Grottage, and as viewers of the Channel 4 show will know - they don't hold back with their opinions while the cameras are rolling. But things at home are a lot quieter, it seems, when filming stops.

In an interview with Idler earlier this year, Giles reflected on spending lockdown with his wife at home. He said: "You see, I’ve had six months of not talking to anyone. That’s the thing about living in the country, who do you talk to?

"The pub’s shut. I don’t go to church. Who am I supposed to talk to?"

When it was suggested he could've had some conversations with Mary, Giles added: "Mary hardly talks to me, we're incompatible." He said the only time they talk is to discuss which TV programme they'll watch that night, and said: "We're distracting our lives away."

It isn't the first time the couple has spoken about their marriage troubles, as Mary previously said: "The thing about Giles is he's 48% bad but 52% good. It gets worse every year".

Giles, Mary and the rest of the Gogglebox cast are currently taking a break from filming, after series 23 drew to a close earlier this month. Celebrity Gogglebox has taken its place on Friday nights on Channel 4, with the original edition set to return in September.
