Gogglebox's Malones told by worried fans to 'stay safe' as hurricane hits

Gogglebox stars Julie and Tom Malone have been flooded with messages from their worried fans after being hit with a hurricane warning shortly after arriving on their latest sun-soaked holiday.

The husband and wife duo, who have been part of the Channel 4 show since 2014 and are now often joined on the hit by their son and daughter, Shaun and Vanessa, revealed they were heading off on their latest trip earlier this week as the hit programme takes a break from the small screen.

They revealed they had ditched their home in Greater Manchester for Jamaica, however, they were quickly issued a warning as a hurricane had made its way to the Caribbean. Hurricane Beryl has already wreaked havoc in Grenada, Barbados and St Lucia with the tropical storm now heading for Jamaica.

In a video update from their sun loungers, Tom told fans on Instagram: "Hello everybody here from sunny Jamaica. And now they've told us there's a hurricane on the way. I book a nice holiday for Julie, there's a hurricane coming, isn't there? It might miss us, it might not, but knowing my luck it's going to head straight for Jamaica isn't it? We'll keep you informed anyway."

The pair also captioned the post: "In Jamaica and there’s a hurricane on its way !!!! Could only happen to us. Will keep you posted". They then followed up with another video the following day (Tuesday, July 2) and as they tried to relax and unwind by the pool.

They said: "Chilling waiting for the calm before the storm. It’s still beautiful and calm here at the moment but the hurricane has been upgraded to a category 5. @sandals_uk they have assured us they will keep us safe!! So for now we will enjoy and keep you all updated xx See you soon."

And their fans and followers were quick to respond. @roarsroarsroars said: "You might just need your big coat then! Stay strong & enjoy the rum until the blue sky is back." @janet.blackburn.90 wrote: "You take care! it would frighten me to death but you will get looked after ! What a Beautiful Country have a fab time when the storms over!"
