Who Is Golda Rosheuvel’s Partner? All About Shireen Mula
Golda Rosheuvel and Shireen Mula have been together for over a decade
Golda Rosheuvel and her partner Shireen Mula share a love for the stage.
The Bridgerton star started her career in theater, with roles including Mercutio in Romeo and Juliet and the titular Othello. Mula works in the same industry as a playwright.
The couple have been together for over a decade, beginning their relationship in the early 2010s when they met “the old-fashioned way — at a mate’s party,” as Rosheuvel told The Guardian in 2022.
The British actress often talks about Mula in interviews, praising her partner’s "invaluable" support of her career.
During the initial success of Bridgerton in 2022, Rosheuvel told Tatler that Mula's pride in her had a grounding effect. “The attention has been a big adjustment and it’s great to have somebody there who can hold you in the moments you find difficult and help you navigate the ups and downs," she said.

As their relationship neared the decade mark, Rosheuvel appeared on the Just for Variety podcast and talked about how she was advised not to come out as gay by a lesbian director early in her career — but she is now “out and proud.”
When asked about the possibility of marrying Mula, she said, “We'll see, we'll see. I mean, you know, I don't see myself with any other person.”
So, who is Golda Rosheuvel’s partner? Here’s everything to know about Shireen Mula and her relationship with the actress.
She’s a playwright
Mula is a playwright who has worked in London and across the globe, according to her website. She has been an associate artist at theaters in London and South Korea, lectured at London South Bank University in drama and performance and has written more than a dozen plays.
In 2022, she contributed to National Theatre’s Connections, a book of plays from England’s Royal National Theatre for young performers, in which she was called one of “the UK's most exciting playwrights.”

That same year, Mula worked with the company Secret Cinema as a writer on the “Bridgerton Experience” immersive fan event — a dinner and show experience where guests dressed in Regency-era regalia and enjoyed era-specific music and dancing.
When talking to The Guardian, Rosheuvel said that the event organizers had no idea Mula was in a relationship with her. “I don’t think Secret Cinema actually knows that I’m Shireen’s partner. We’ve never said anything, which is fun,” she said.
She helped Rosheuvel land her Bridgerton role
In an interview with Shondaland in 2023, Rosheuvel said that Mula helped her land the role of Queen Charlotte in Bridgerton.
The actress was originally called in to audition for the role of Lady Danbury, but she forgot the lines in the audition room and didn’t get the part. A few hours later, she got a call from the casting director asking her to audition for the queen.

At the time, Rosheuvel and Mula were packing for a trip to France with friends, but they dropped everything to film a self-tape audition. It was a success — Rosheuvel got the role, acted in three seasons of Bridgerton and even inspired a spinoff series.
They support each other’s careers
Rosheuvel and Mula regularly support each other’s achievements.
While on the Just for Variety podcast in 2022, Rosheuvel talked about receiving the Equality Award from the Human Rights Campaign, an LGBTQ+ advocacy group, that year. She discussed being open about her sexuality, and making a difference in representation on-screen — and how Mula supports her in that endeavor.
“My sexuality is really important to me in terms of existing, knowing that I’m important. I’m as important as anyone on the planet,” Rosheuvel said. “My partner always says, ‘The mere fact that you’re on the screen. The mere fact that you’re in Bridgerton as a Black, biracial, cis-gender, lesbian playing the first Black queen of England. The fact that you’re there is immense.’ ”
For her part, Mula also works towards representation on the stage. Rosheuvel told the Liverpool Queer Collective in 2018 she didn’t think there had been an increase in opportunity and representation for LGBTQ+ roles at the time, though Mula was actively working to bring diverse roles to the stage.
“My partner (Shireen Mula) is a writer and she struggles to get work seen. She writes gay work because that's what she knows. But do we see gay plays or gay characters? I think it's a shame,” she said.
Rosheuvel often promotes and compliments Mula’s work on social media. In 2018, when Mula’s play Why is The Sky Blue was nominated for best director and best ensemble at the Offie awards, Rosheuvel posted on X (formerly Twitter) that she was “beyond proud.”
In another post, she wrote, “Can’t tell u how exciting this is. Congrats to my beautiful partner @Shireenmula you and the team deserve every bit of this!!!”
They travel together
When they’re not working, Rosheuvel and Mula make time to travel the world together.
In 2023, Rosheuvel told British Airways’ High Life magazine about her and Mula’s adventures. She told the publication that the two had spent the previous two Christmases and New Years renting a villa in Cyprus, spending the three-week trips hiking and swimming.
In 2019, Mula posted a selfie of her and Rosheuvel on X celebrating the New Year in Spain. “#CampanadesVLC HAPPY NEW YEAR VALENCIA! 😍,” she wrote.
Rosheuvel also told the outlet about a road trip on the East Coast of the United States. “It was before Shireen and I moved in together, so it was a little trial,” she said. “It was a success – eight years later, we’re living together!”
Rosheuvel is open about their relationship
Rosheuvel is open about her over decade-long relationship with Mula — and isn’t afraid to tell the world their love story.
She told Out Magazine in 2022 that the secret to their long-term relationship is joy, communication and vulnerability.
“It's very, very important that we have joy, even in the tough times,” she told the outlet. “In the nine years that Shireen and I have been together, that has been the core element of us sticking together and working things out. I'm so grateful for Shireen. Because from day one, she's been strong enough to do that.”
On an episode of the Okay, Now Listen podcast in 2022, Rosheuvel told the hosts that she feels “freed” by love.
“I’m in love, at the moment. Deeply. And to admit that is freeing, you know?” she said. “To be able to be vulnerable with that person, with yourself, within that relationship, to be able to see your flaws, to have flaws, and for your flaws to be held by another person who you know loves you.”
