Goldendoodle Gains Brother and Best Friend After Owners Surprise Him

A goldendoodle in Virginia gained not only a baby brother but a new best friend when his owners brought home a puppy earlier this month.

Footage filmed by Stephanie Smith shows the moment four-year-old Beau is surprised with the puppy. Smith’s husband Brad can be seen holding a gift-wrapped box containing three-month-old Cooper, and placing it in front of a curious Beau.

“Both dogs are from the same breeder and share the same dad, Red,” Smith told Storyful.

She said that after four years of having Beau in the family, it was time to get him a brother.

“We reached out to his breeder about their next litter and found out it would be their last,” Smith said. “The dad of the litter was also Beau’s dad, so we knew we had to get Cooper.”

It appears that Beau quickly took to his new half-brother, with the pair seen walking and play fighting together in the footage.

“We were wary that Beau would be jealous at first, which he was, but knew after a couple of days, he would warm up to Cooper and they have been inseparable ever since,” Smith said. Credit: Stephanie Smith via Storyful
