Golfers Flee as Huge Wave Hits Californian Course

A round of golf was interrupted in spectacular fashion along California’s storm-hit coast recently, when a huge wave sent Peter Butler and his buddies running for higher ground at the 14th hole at Monterey Peninsula Country Club.

Butler was recording as he and his friends watched the rough seas. As can be heard in the video, it slowly dawns on them: “It’s gonna hit us!”

The group is sent running inland, with the video eventually panning to show their swamped golf carts.

Butler told Storyful the waves were “insanely big”. Credit: Peter Butler via Storyful
