When it comes to staycations, spending a week in a cottage by the coast is pretty hard to beat. You can wake up to the sound of waves crashing against the shore, go for long walks along the beach and even dip your toes in the water, knowing you can warm up by a cosy fire afterwards.

Only a few hours’ drive from Greater Manchester, Anglesey offers miles upon miles of gorgeous coastline, with sandy coves and rugged cliffs. The island off the coast of North Wales is a haven for wildlife too; puffins, seals and dolphins can often be seen along the coast.

Providing the perfect base to take this all in is Goferydd, a luxury holiday cottage located minutes away from the iconic South Stack lighthouse in Anglesey. Operated by luxury accommodation provider Rest & Rewild, the charming white-washed cottage sleeps up to nine guests and has panoramic views across the Irish sea.

The cottage has easy access to beaches nearby, where you can explore rockpools, or - if you’re feeling brave enough - enjoy a swim in the sea. Dogs are welcome at the cottage so you don’t have to leave your four-legged-friend at home. In fact, they are very much a valued guest, with special dog washing facilities available and beds, towels, and bowls all provided for each pooch.

Goferydd has everything you need for a comfy coastal getaway. As you walk in via the large entrance porch, there’s a huge open-plan kitchen diner where you can rustle up a tasty meal after your adventures. Leading off to this is a cosy snug, with a 70-inch smart TV with a Playstation for kids.

Upstairs is the master bedroom with a king-size bed and private bathroom looking out to sea. Next door is a twin bedroom which is perfect for kids, and leads you through to the large family bathroom. It features a walk-in shower, sinks and a nickel-plated bathtub. The cottage is ideal for larger groups or multi-generational family holidays as there’s a separate annexe with a king-sized bedroom, twin beds on a mezzanine floor and additional Italian marble family bathroom.

The cottage has its own gardens with a decked dining area and a luxurious hot tub, where you can relax with a glass of fizz and enjoy the views. Goferydd is situated within an RSPB nature reserve and large colonies of puffins can frequently be seen fishing in the surrounding waters.

Seals and dolphins can often be spotted too, so it’s worth bringing some binoculars along. The spot is ideal for taking in the sunset, while you can benefit from Anglesey’s Dark Sky Reserve status and indulge in some stargazing.

For those looking for a proper adventure, the secluded Porth Wen beach has the remains of an old harbour and is just a short drive away.

Goferydd is available for three, four and seven night stays. A four-night midweek stay in May starts from £1,450 - just over £40 a night if nine adults are staying. Summer prices start from £1,990 based on a midweek, four-night stay in July, which works out at a little over £55 a night per guest, if the house is full.
