Strictly’s Gorka Marquez has addressed rumours that some of the show’s dancers have refused to have COVID vaccinations, saying “everyone is free to do whatever they want”.

It has been reported that two, possibly three, of the dancers on the BBC ballroom show are not vaccinated.

Marquez was asked about it on This Morning but made it clear that it was just speculation.

He told hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield: “What I know is the show is taking big responsibility to keep everyone safe, lots of testing, lots of trying to keep everyone distant and safe.

"They did it last year, we were all safe, so this year they’re doing the same and it will work, because we did it last year."

When Marquez was asked if he would prefer it if everyone was vaccinated, the dancer said: “Everyone is free to do whatever they want.”

“You go on the streets right now, some people might be vaccinated, some people might not,” he added.

Strictly has not confirmed whether or not there are dancers who have not been vaccinated.

A show spokesperson said: "We do not comment on speculation of somebody’s COVID vaccination status.

Strictly Come Dancing production has, and will, continue to follow strict government guidelines to ensure the safety of all on the show."
