Grace Van Patten Boards Hulu’s Amanda Knox Drama

Knox is among the executive producers of the untitled series, which Hulu ordered in March from writer and showrunner KJ Steinberg (This Is Us). The series is based on the true story of Knox’s wrongful conviction for killing her roommate Meredith Kercher when they were studying in Italy, and Knox’s “16-year odyssey to set herself truly free,” as Hulu describes it.

The eight-episode limited series will add to an already extensive list of filmed material about Knox’s story. She was the subject of or inspiration for a 2011 Lifetime movie that played fast and loose with the facts of the case, a 2014 English film titled The Face of an Angel and a 2016 feature documentary. Knox also accused Matt Damon and writer-director Tom McCarthy of “ripping off” her story in the 2021 movie Stillwater.

The series comes form 20th Television in association with The Littlefield Company (The Handmaid’s Tale, Fargo) and Monica Lewinsky’s Alt Ending Productions. Steinberg executive produces with  Warren Littlefield, Lisa Harrison, Kathy Ciric, Ann Johnson and Graham Littlefield of The Littlefield Company, Lewinsky, and Knox and Chris Robinson, via their Knox Robinson banner.

The show will mark Van Patten’s third series at Hulu, as she also starred in season one of Nine Perfect Strangers. Her credits also include A Violent Heart, Under the Silver Lake and The Meyerowitz Stories. She is repped by WME, Brookside Artist Management and The Lede Company.
