Taylor Swift is followed by speculation wherever she goes – from her love life to her lyric choices. Now she’s trending on Twitter because viewers are speculating that she mimed on the Graham Norton Show this week – a rumour that the TV presenter adamantly denies.

“Can I just say,” he said on his Saturday show on Radio 2, “lots of people are on Twitter are saying ‘oh, Taylor Swift miming’. Taylor Swift was on my TV show last night – singing, not miming!”

Norton was discussing last week’s Eurovision show when he jumped topic to defend the US pop sensation.

“I was in the room. I could hear her singing,” he stated.

Swift is currently in the UK promoting her new single Me! She performed the song without Brendon Urie, The Panic at the Disco frontman who features on the track.

Norton was responding to the many viewers who had taken to social media to express their sadness that Swift was lip-syncing on the show.

One commented: “It is jarring and a talking point when the artist of the week on #GrahamNorton mimes. Really happens so infrequently that it's so bloody obvious when it happens and very disappointing.”

But fans were quick to defend the 1989 singer. With @efrontomyswift tweeting, “Almost all the tweets from the Graham Norton hashtag are bashing Taylor saying she’s miming and terrible. The UK really does hate her omg. Also btw just because she sounds good, doesn’t mean she’s lipsyncing. It just means she’s good.”

Norton then went on to dodge comments from his co-presenter Maria McErlane about Madonna’s Eurovision performance. Quickly changing the subject rather than saying something on the matter.

Swift was joined on the red couch by James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jessica Chastain and Sophie Turner. There was also lots of speculation on social media about the meeting of the Game of Thrones actress with her now husband, Joe Jonas’ ex, Swift.

But all seemed to be fine with the two women screaming and running to hug when they met on stage. Both commented on their matching locks. Turner, who has been rocking a new hairdo this week, admitted to Norton that her new fringe was actually a fake.
