Ladies Day 2024 full race card, runners and odds at Aintree on Friday

Jonbon is set to step up to two-and-a-half miles for the first time after he was among the seven high-class entries for the My Pension Expert Melling Chase on Ladies Day at the Randox Grand National Festival at Aintree Racecourse on Friday.

All the second-day entries have been declared and Jonbon is 9-4 favourite to land the Grade One feature on day two at Aintree. Nicky Henderson's eight-year-old has won numerous Grade Ones over the minimum trip but having missed the Cheltenham Festival due to concerns over the form of the Seven Barrows stable, his trainer will hope for a better from the JP McManus-owned gelding than when he lost when sent off the 1-4 favourite in the rearranged Clarence House Chase.

In opposition is last year's winner, the Paul Nicholls-trained Pic D'Orhy; recent Ryanair Chase victor Protekorat, from the Dan Skelton stable; and 2023 Ryanair Chase hero and this year's second, Henry De Bromhead's Envoi Allen. Gordon Elliott's Conflated, who had been top weight for the Grand National, is set to run in the Melling Chase instead. Willie Mullins' Easy Game and the Donald McCain-trained Minella Drama complete the seven-strong field.

Two smart mares, Golden Ace and Dysart Enos, will clash again in the TrustATrader Top Novices' Hurdle as eight are set to go to post. Fergal O'Brien's Dysart Enos came out on top when they met in a Grade Two bumper at this meeting 12 months ago but she missed Cheltenham due to a minor injury. In her absence, Jeremy Scott's Golden Ace won the Mares' Novices' Hurdle at Prestbury Park. Other entries include Willie Mullins' Supreme Novices' Hurdle runner-up Mystical Power, the third home Firefox, from the Elliott stable, and Ben Pauling's promising Personal Ambition.

Six horses have been declared in the Huyton Asphalt Franny Blennerhassett Memorial Mildmay Novices' Chase with Kim Bailey's Ultima Handicap Chase hero Chianti Classico, the Gavin Cromwell-trained Inothewayurthinkin and Iroko, from the Cheshire stable of Oliver Greenall and Josh Guerriero, challenging for favouritism. Henry de Bromheads's Heart Wood, the Nigel Twiston-Davies-trained Broadway Boy and Giovinco are other contenders

The Mullins-trained Dancing City and Readin Tommy Wrong, Shanagh Bob, Croke Park and The Jukebox Man, agonisingly reeled in by Stellar Story in the Albert Bartlett, are among nine in the Cavani Sartorial Menswear Sefton Novices' Hurdle.

In the Randox Supports Race Against Dementia Topham Chase, run over 2m5f of the Grand National course, there are 25 entries with last year's winner Bob Baxter, from the Warren Greatrex stable, the favourite to double up. The Harry Redknapp-owned Shakem Up'Arry is entered to back-up his recent win at the Cheltenham Festival. He is also entered in the Grand National, but with only an outside chance of making the cut for the big race, trainer Ben Pauling has opted to line up in the Topham instead. Other entries include Willie Mullins-trained Classic Getaway – who is the top weight on 12st – and James Du Berlais and last year's runner-up Fantastic Lady, from the Nicky Henderson stable.
