'Grand Theft Auto VI' Reportedly Planned for "Early" 2025 Release, Could Be Delayed Until 2026

Rockstar Games' highly-anticipated Grand Theft Auto VI may experience a delay that could push its release date all the way to 2026.

Kotaku reports that while GTA VI is currently scheduled for an "early 2025" release, there's a possibility that the game will not drop until late 2025 or even 2026 due to a delay in its production. Bloomberg reported in February that Rockstar Games is directing employees to return to five-day office workweeks starting April for "security and quality," however sources tell Kotaku that development on the forthcoming game is now "falling behind." Execs are getting worried that the studio may miss its previously-announced 2025 release and, in turn, are mandating employees to physically return to the office.

Rockstar Games is continuing development on GTA VI and is still working towards a Spring 2025 release date, but a delayed release date of 2026 may be their “fallback plan” or “emergency” alternative.
