Great British Bake Off fans have been felt fuming as it was announced the show will be taken off air to make way for football next week.

The new series of the Channel 4 baking competition is airing on Tuesday nights, with Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood back as the judges and Alison Hammond joining Noel Fielding to present.

However, a shake-up will see next week's instalment move from the Tuesday (17 October) to the Wednesday (18 October), as England take on Italy in the Euro 2024 qualifiers.

One person called it "outrageous," adding: "Should be: 'The football has been moved to Wednesday to accommodate the #GBBO'."

"NO BAKE OFF TILL NEXT WEDNESDAY BECAUSE OF THE FOOTBALL I DO NOT CARE GIVE ME BAKE OFF," stormed someone else.

Another complained: "Stupid football means we have to wait till Wednesday next week!"

"Boo football," said another viewer.

"Chocolate Week though, that means we will have to stock up for next week."
