Great British Bake Off 2016: Selasi Gbormittah took a road trip to visit Val Stones

Our hearts are warmer than an oven being prepped for a baking session, as two of our all-time favourite Great British Bake Off contestants, Selasi Gbormittah and Val Stones, have been spotted out and about together.

Securing his nation’s sweetheart status, Selasi took his motorbike on a road trip to visit Val, all the way from London to Somerset – let’s hope that she had a cup of tea and a slice of cake waiting for him, eh?

“From London to Somerset! ROAD TRIP? Seeing my favourite pensioner in Wells. Perfect excuse and weather to get on motorbike,” Selasi wrote on Twitter, as our hearts melted quicker than the centre of a chocolate sponge pudding.

A few hours later, the pair were seen enjoying the sights and sounds of the cathedral city, and were pictured smiling for the camera.

Following their reunion, Val shared a photo of with Selasi, or “Sels” as his friends know him, alongside the caption: “Had lunch with family and friends,” which makes us (want to) believe that she has now adopted Selasi.

Furthermore, Val shared a heartfelt tribute after Selasi’s Bake Off exit last week, writing: “Dear Sels you were magnificent, such a gentle human being, I would be proud to have you as my son.”

We are sobbing. <3

Meanwhile Val is still adjusting to life in the fame lane and has been shocked by the amount of people that recognise and greet her in the street.

“It is getting silly,” she joked. “I didn’t think I would be noticed. Every job takes longer now. Everyone wants selfies.”

Set to join the selfie phenomenon, the remaining Bake Off contestants – Andrew Smyth, Candice Brown and Jane Beedle – will battle it out for the all-important winner’s plate before their departure from the tent this week.
