Anyone who's been to Arcade Club Bury knows how good it is, but now it's officially been ranked number two in a list of the UK's top 10.

Researchers looked at everything from time spent in the arcades, to Google reviews and even distance from public transport when putting the list together.

Arcade Club Bury ranks second behind Arcade Club Leeds and has an average time of 3.25 hours spent in the arcade, and more than 12,000 monthly searches on Google, where it has a review score of 4.8 out of five.

Manchester's 1UP gaming bar in Didsbury takes the eighth spot in the list, put together by VegasSlotsOnline.

We featured Arcade Club Bury just last month when we reported how it's attracting quite some attention on the film and TV circuit.

The beloved arcade, which is actually the biggest in Europe, played a key part in the newly released Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire movie with two of its machines featuring in it after they were requested for the set.

Star Castle and Missile Command were chosen specifically to add an authentic touch of the 80s to the movie, which stars Paul Rudd, Carrie Coon, Finn Wolfhard and Mckenna Grace.

And, earlier this year, the club, which is based over four floors in Ela Mill, was chosen as a major filming location for Netflix's number one show Fool Me Once, starring Michelle Keegan.

Since opening in 2015, the club has become a sanctuary for gamers and nostalgia seekers alike and is often packed with players of every age.

There are hundreds of retro and modern machines for visitors to enjoy - from classic and modern arcade games, to pinball machines and so much more.

Andy Palmer, owner of Arcade Club, says it's good to be acknowledged with the list, although they wouldn't necessarily agree with the order.

"It’s great to see Arcade Club occupying both the number one and two spots on the list," he said. "However, it’s worth noting that the data doesn’t tell the full story. Although Arcade Club Leeds ranks higher on the list, Bury is actually a much larger venue with over 100 more machines than Leeds so I’d maybe switch the one and two ranking around."

He added: "While being recognised as the most popular arcade in the UK is fantastic, the most important thing for us, as it’s always been, is making sure our visitors have a brilliant experience whenever they come through our doors.

"This year we’re celebrating our tenth anniversary and we genuinely wouldn’t have been able to without the amazing support of people who choose to visit our venues each and every week.”

Arcade Club Bury opens 4pm to 11pm on Thursday, 6pm to midnight on Friday (adults only after 6pm), 11am to 11pm on Saturday and 11am to 8pm on Sunday. It also opens on bank holidays and extends its opening hours during the school holidays, opening from 11am on Thursday and Friday.

It costs £9 for kids aged five to 15 to play all day long. Under fives free but must be included on booking. If adults want to play too it's £17 per adult, or £43 for a family. For more information, or to book tickets, visit the website.
