A Wetherspoons in Stretford has been crowned as the best in the country. A new study analysing the ratings of 869 Wetherspoons pubs and hotels across the UK has revealed that the Old Trafford local is king among punters.

The research conducted by experts at Q.R. Code Generator looked at the total percentage of excellent reviews on Google Reviews and found that the Bishop Blaize achieved a rating of 60.34% excellent reviews.

The Bishop Blaize, Old Trafford

The Bishop Blaize has topped the list of Wetherspoons receiving the best reviews from the public, with a rating of 60.34% excellent reviews. Bishop Blaize is located right next to Manchester United's Old Trafford Ground. According to the Wetherspoons website, it has many facilities, including T.V. screens, Sky Sports, and B.T. Sports, broadcasts live news, a licensed outdoor area, and step-free access.

The Bishop Blaize has 1,462 five-star reviews out of its 2,423 Google Reviews. This Manchester Wetherspoons scored very high on the list compared to its neighbouring pubs, with the next Manchester Wetherspoons pub, The Shay Wake, ranking 112th on the list.

Royal Victoria Pavilion, Ramsgate, Kent

In second place is the Royal Victoria Pavilion in Ramsgate, Kent. This seaside Wetherspoons scored a 58.48% excellent review rating and is located on the beach at Harbour Parade in a grade II listed building designed by architect Stanley Davenport Adshead in 1903. It features two floors and two bars, a ground-floor beachfront beer garden, and a first-floor roof terrace.

This Wetherspoons has the second highest amount of Google Reviews of the top 10, with 6,090, with one five-star review quoting “The best Wetherspoons in England, outside on the terrace you could be mistaken for being in the south of France, its truly beautiful, the view out to sea and the harbour, food and drink always reasonably priced and staff pleasant.”

The Caley Picture House, Edinburgh

The Caley Picture House in Edinburgh comes in third place, with an excellent score of 57.83%. This Wetherspoons is a Grade B listed building and a former cinema that opened in 2016 after a £2.5 million investment. It has a cinema-style interior, including seats and a large screen-style backdrop behind the main bar.

The Caley Picture House ranks third in the UK but ranks number one best-rated in Scotland, with the next best Wetherspoons in Scotland being the Prestwick Pioneer in South Ayrshire.

The Greenwood Hotel, Northolt

The Greenwood Hotel, Northolt, ranks fourth, scoring 57.81% of excellent reviews. The grade II-listed hotel has 12 en-suite rooms and costs from £69 per night. Facilities include Freeview television, free Wi-Fi, digital temperature control in the room, a pub forming part of the hotel, and a 372m² garden. London’s best rated Wetherspoons has 955 five stars out of its 1,652 reviews.

Stick or Twist, Leeds.

In fifth place, with 57.13% excellent reviews, is Stick or Twist in Leeds. This Wetherspoons is located next to the First Direct Arena, with floor-to-ceiling windows and a long bar opposite the entrance. One five-star Google Review describes it as “the perfect after theatre/arena venue to grab some food and a drink. Modern and bright building. Friendly staff. Good food and great service.”

The Golden Beam, Leeds

Another Wetherspoons in Leeds is at number six, with 56.71% excellent reviews. The Golden Beam is on Headingly Lane and 1.5 miles from the Stick or Twist. It opened on the 8th of June 2021 and is named after a painting by Leeds artist John Atkinson Grimshaw.

The Golden Beam has 1,162 Google reviews, with 659 of them being five stars.

The William Adams, Gorleston-on-Sea, Norfolk

At number seven is The William Adams in Gorleston-on-Sea, Norfolk, which has 55.53% of excellent reviews. The pub is named after William Adams, a famous Gorleston swimming instructor and lifesaver. One of the five-star reviews quoted it as “A really nice and friendly Wetherspoon with great service and probably the best staff I've ever been served by.

The food was hot, such good value and tasty, both at breakfast and evening. The toilets were immaculate. Move over McDonald's, there's a new kid on the block for breakfast muffins...”

The Prense Well, Merseyside

In eighth place is The Prense Well in Merseyside, which has received 55.41% excellent reviews. The pub is named after a large well that used to serve the area and includes facilities such as baby change, step-free access, broadcasts live news, tv screens and a licensed outdoor area. The second-best rated Wetherspoons in Merseyside is The Nine Arches in Newton-le-Willows, which ranked 21st in the UK.

The Velvet Coaster, Blackpool, Lancashire

The Velvet Coaster in Blackpool, Lancashire, is in ninth, with a rating of 55.07%. This beachfront, Wetherspoons, is located across from South Pier and close to Pleasure Beach and the Sandcastle Waterpark. The pub has three floors and includes outside sheltered seating on each of these floors. The Velvet Coaster has the most Google Reviews out of the top ten, with 10,528 reviews, out of those there’s 5,798 rated five-star.

The Buck Inn, North Yorkshire

Finally, rounding off the list in tenth place is The Buck Inn, which has 54.97% excellent reviews and is based in North Yorkshire. The Wetherspoons opened in 2021 with the assistance of Rishi Sunak, who helped the staff serve drinks and breakfast. The Buck Inn has step-free access and seats more than 500 people indoors and outdoors.
