Greene County Jail inmate dies in custody

Apr. 19—A death investigation is underway after a Greene County Jail inmate died Thursday evening.

Inmate Lea Pfaff, 42, of Bloomfield, suffered an "unknown medical event" while in custody, the sheriff's office said in a Friday news release.

Emergency lifesaving measures were started and Pfaff was taken by ambulance to Greene County General Hospital, where she later died, the sheriff's office said.

A death investigation has begun and an autopsy was scheduled for today.
