James, who took over as the presenter of the Radio One Breakfast Show last summer from Nick Grimshaw, has never been shy about his habits. But in an interview in today’s Guardian he owned up to his most embarrassing life moment so far. “I recently shat myself on a train on the way to speak at the Oxford Union.”

Today his post on Instagram, questioning the wiseness of his honesty. has already had almost 20k likes.

In post’s comment section – as people quizzed him about the train incident – he added he was “on the toilet reading all your comments and they’re making me laugh a lot. Cheers”. A nod to the article’s headline.

And as James’ suggested, the “horror show” didn’t stop there. He revealed his sister used to call him Pea Head – “My head is two sizes too small for my body” – and that he gets “very grumpy when tired,” acknowledging that taking on the Breakfast Show might have been “a bit stupid”.

As well as being a Radio One DJ, James also writes the Kid Normal children’s books with broadcaster Chris Smith. His wife, Bella Mackie, is also an author. She posted on her own Instagram account about her husband’s answers, admitting she’s asked him the same questions on their third date.
