Greg James has gone viral after meeting a fan on a train.

The 36-year-old, who hosts Radio 1 Breakfast every weekday morning, was on a train from Edinburgh when he received a tweet from a woman asking him if he was sat next to her mum and drinking red wine.

Colleen tweeted the radio host: "My mum thinks she’s sat next to you on a train from Edinburgh right now so if you could confirm that would be amazing, her name is Jane and she’s just had a white wine and says you are on red x".

James retweeted the post then posted a video of his own. The short clip showed James on the train with his wine before zooming in on a woman on a table opposite.

The DJ introduces himself and asks "Are you Jane?"

Looking at James suspiciously, she confirmed she was Jane which is when he shows her the tweet on his laptop.

She starts laughing and says "That's my daughter."

Several hours later, James tweeted a picture of them together enjoying win with the caption "train Jane".

Colleen then responded by saying: "Can't believe two legends are meeting, tell her I miss her."

After seeing that their encounter had gone viral, James joked on Twitter: "Wow this blew up. Wonder if Jane has a Soundcloud."

He also said: "Train Jane on the breakfast show next!"

On Monday, 14 February, both Jane and Colleen did in fact appear on James' show to talk about the viral moment.

Regarding the experience, James called it "ridiculous" and said: “We had a great six hours together yesterday on that train. We are basically best friends."

On the show, Colleen said it was “the most Jane thing to ever happen. She’s just utter chaos”.

Jane also said the whole thing was "absolutely crazy".
