Greggs open 'new and improved' Jesmond shop creating four new jobs

Greggs launched its latest North East store over the weekend, in a new and improved bakery in Jesmond which has created four jobs.

The old Greggs outlet in Jesmond was at 34 Acorn Road, but has now relocated to a larger unit a stone's throw away at 4 Acorn Road.

As well as all of the family favourites - sausage rolls, steak bakes and pizza slices - the new store will also serve up a bunch of vegan alternatives and a range of over ice drinks like the Cloudy Lemonade and Iced Mocha, which are only available in select locations.

Customers can make the most of Greggs' deals throughout the day, including the famous breakfast combo - which offers a breakfast roll or baguette alongside a Fairtrade orange juice or hot drink - and the lunchtime meal deal.

As the warmer weather rolls in, Greggs has also launched two new pasta pots in the Piri Piri Chicken Pasta and the Pesto and Mozzarella Pasta. Elsewhere, a handful of healthy items return in the Sweet Potato Bhaji & Rice, Smoky Cajun Rice with BBQ Chicken & Sweetcorn Fritters, Feta & Tomato Pasta and Chicken & Bacon Pasta.

All of the above are part of Greggs’ Balanced Choice range and are 400 calories or less. Those looking for an evening snack can enjoy Southern Fried Chicken Goujons, Potato Wedges and a variety of pizza slices including Margherita, Pepperoni, Spicy Mexican Chicken, Spicy Veg and Pepperoni Hot Shot.

And after 4pm, punters can pick up a pizza slice and a drink for just £2.85 instead of the usual £3.50. Customers can also skip the queue with the official Click and Collect Greggs App.

The new Jesmond store offers modern and comfortable indoor seating, and it is open 6.30am to 7pm Monday to Saturday, and 7.30am to 5pm on a Sunday. Shop manager Lucy McGivena said: "We can’t wait to welcome both Greggs fans and new customers to our brand-new shop.

"We’ve got an amazing range of iconic savouries, Fairtrade hot drinks, hot food and healthier choices available for takeaway, sit-in or Click + Collect."

Gillian Long, retail operations director for Greggs, added: "We’re excited to be welcoming customers to our new and improved shop in Brecon, with four new members joining the existing team. We look forward to providing customers with a modern, convenient new place to experience their Greggs favourites."
