Greggs to sell fish finger sandwiches in selected North East venues from this week
Greggs is set to trial fish finger sandwiches in select stores across Newcastle, Gateshead, Sunderland and County Durham from this Thursday (May 23) - and if successful they could be rolled out nationwide. The brand-new Fish Finger Sandwich will come with a choice of ketchup or mayo, and is made with battered cod, iceberg lettuce and a soft roll.
A Fish Finger Wrap will also be trialled in certain locations, containing cod fillet, mixed leaves, cucumber and mayonnaise in a soft tortilla wrap. And shoppers were quick to share their opinions on the new trial items today, with one dubbing them an 'actual dream' while another said 'bet these are banging'.
Others also begged the bakery chain to extend the trial outside of the North East, while an Australian fan asked: "Please bring a Greggs fish finger sandwich to Australia!"
Yorkshire Live reports that both made to order menu additions will be able to pick up from the counter as part of Greggs' new hot sandwich deal - which includes any hot sandwich, southern fried wedges or a side salad, and any cold drink for £4.95.
