A newlywed whose wife died on their honeymoon in Sri Lanka after apparently suffering food poisoning has reportedly been stopped from leaving the country.

Khilan Chandaria, 33, and bride Usheila Patel, 31, both fell ill during their honeymoon and Usheila died, The Sun reported.

Her devastated husband Khilan has now reportedly been told that he can’t leave the country until more tests are carried out.

The 33-year-old, who hasn’t been arrested or charged, told The Sun: “The authorities are not treating me as a culprit but aren’t treating me like a victim either. I don’t want to leave without her.”
