Guardians of the Galaxy 3 features Ant-Man star in second MCU role

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 spoilers follow.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 features none other than Ant-Man's Judy Greer in a surprise second MCU role. Greer previously appeared in the MCU as Cassie Lang’s mother, Maggie, in both Ant-Man and Ant-Man and the Wasp.

The actress didn't actually reprise the role for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania last year (despite saying she was "willing" to), and instead has returned to the MCU in an unexpected way.

In the third and final Guardians movie, which arrives in cinemas today (May 3), Greer voices War Pig, one of the High Evolutionary's goons who he sends to kidnap Rocket when the Guardians are on Counter-Earth.

Gamora tries to protect Rocket, but War Pig overpowers her before Adam Warlock decapitates War Pig in order to take Rocket for himself.

Thankfully, Adam then dashes off to try to save his mother Ayesha, leaving Rocket in Gamora's safe hands.

The film also sees Loki's Tara Strong take on a second MCU role as the robot Mainframe, which was previously voiced by Miley Cyrus in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2.

The movie's big release comes as Guardians director James Gunn recently opened up to Digital Spy and other press about the trilogy's conclusion.

"I'm gonna miss the characters. That's the saddest part for me," he said. "I really, truly love these characters. I love all of them. I think there's certain ones that I have a special fondness for, especially Rocket."

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 is out in UK cinemas now and in US cinemas on May 5. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 1 and Vol 2 and The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special are streaming on Disney+.
