Gugu Mbatha-Raw sees red-carpet dressing as form of 'artistic expression'

Gugu Mbatha-Raw sees her red carpet looks as a form of "artistic expression".

In a recent interview with Marie Claire, the 40-year-old actress described dressing for red-carpet events as "heightened reality".

"I've come to look at it more recently as artistic expression - a living, breathing painting that you put on your body," she added.

As a fan of fashion, the Loki actress recently attended Chanel's runway show in Manchester in December and sat front row alongside fellow celebrities including Kristen Stewart, Hugh Grant and Alexa Chung.

Gugu praised the "inventive" presentation, adding, "As a creative, artistic person, you see that all art forms at the highest level have crossover."

Elsewhere in the interview, The Morning Show actress divulged what her "perfect" morning routine looks like.

"(It involves) a great night's sleep, a leisurely breakfast, staying in my pyjamas, drinking coffee, reading, sitting in my garden, yoga, walking in the countryside. Definitely a deep-tissue massage and ending the day with a delicious meal and a hot bath," she shared.

Gugu also noted that she has a very specific taste in nightwear, adding, "Like full, old-school silk pyjamas. You get to a point in life where you want a full pyjama. Very relaxed and slinky."
