Fired Worker In Deadly Rampage At Truck Depot

A disgruntled worker shot dead a supervisor before turning the gun on himself at a trucking company service station in Texas, police say.

The gunman, who officials said was fired on Wednesday morning, launched the attack just before 9am at Knight Transportation in the Houston suburb of Katy.

Harris County Sheriff Ron Hickman told a news conference that after being sacked the suspect returned with a shotgun.

"He parked right outside the building and came straight in," the sheriff said.

The man killed one person and injured another, before turning the weapon on himself, said the sheriff.

"Ultimately the suspect took his own life," Mr Hickman said.

He did not release the name of the gunman or the victims.

The other employee injured at the business was hit by a piece of debris during the gunfire.

One sheriff's deputy was also hurt as he banged his knee while entering the building.

A nearby elementary school and high school were placed on temporary lockdown.
