Gunshots fired at Solihull properties were 'isolated incident' say police

Several gunshots were fired at properties in two Solihull streets with police making three arrests. The shots were fired in Rover Drive in Smiths Wood and also two-and-a-half miles away in Kingshurst Way in Kingshurst on Bank Holiday Monday (May 6) night. No injuries were reported.

West Midlands Police attended the incidents and made three arrests, a woman aged 29, a man aged 31 and a second man, aged 34 – all arrested at a property in Birmingham. The three were arrested on suspicion of possession of firearms and remain in custody.

The force said the firearms incidents were ‘isolated’ and said the wider public was not at risk. Officers remain in the area gathering evidence and carrying out further enquiries.

A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said: “Three people have been arrested after shots were fired at addresses in Solihull last night. A 31-year-old man, a 29-year-old woman and a 34-year-old man were arrested in the early hours of this morning after shots were fired in Rover Drive and Kingshurst Way.

“We attended and identified the three, who were arrested a short time later from an address in Birmingham. Officers are remaining at the scenes to gather evidence and carry out further enquiries.

“All three people were arrested on suspicion of possession of firearms and remain in custody. We would like to assure the public this was an isolated incident, without cause for wider concern in the community. Thankfully, no one was hurt in the incident.”
