EU Brexit co-ordinator Guy Verhofstadt issued the bluntest of verdicts on Mr Farage’s legacy following a sitting of the European Parliament on Wednesday.
He tweeted, alongside an open-mouthed gif of Mr Farage: “This morning in the @Europarl_EN everyone said: we will miss our British colleagues. The @LibDems, @UKLabour, @theSNP and @TheGreenParty. True!
“But I won't miss Mr. Farage and his Brexiteers, I can tell you that much.”
It’s likely Mr Farage - known for his confrontational speeches in the parliament ever since becoming an MEP in 1999 - will not be too concerned about his rival’s remarks.
Mr Farage had himself issued a trademark blast against the EU during a speech in the parliament on Wednesday.
Surrounded by grinning Brexit Party colleagues, he hailed the UK “leaving this prison of nations at the end of January”.

He laid into new European Commission president Ursula von der Leyen, calling her “dull as ditchwater” and claiming “Brexit is the beginning of the end of this project”.
Mr Farage was returning from a dire UK general election campaign which saw his party completely outmanoeuvred by Boris Johnson’s Tories, failing to win any seats.
