We don’t often get a snapshot into the family life of Gwyneth Paltrow. But this week, the world got to see how much her 15-year-old daughter Apple has grown to look like her, thanks to an Instagram post by family friend Derek Blasberg.

Paltrow’s eldest child is the spitting image of her mother in the photo, her long blonde hair cascading over her shoulders as she snuggles in. Actress Blythe Danner, Apple’s grandmother, cuddles up to her daughter on the other side of the shot.

The picture was taken to celebrate the 47th birthday of the Hollywood actress, which Blasberg captioned, “Today is the middle one's birthday, but let’s celebrate the entire Danner-Paltrow-Martin bloodline. Here are three kind, talented, sweet, lithe (rhymes with Blythe!), wonderful women. The apple doesn't fall from the tree—and neither does Apple. Wishing you the absolute bestest year ever @gwynethpaltrow! 💘🎂”

Paltrow actually chatted about both her kids earlier this week on US TV, describing Apple and younger brother Moses as “hilarious”, “smart” and the “greatest” to Today Show host Savannath Guthrie.

But it wasn’t all glowing reviews. “I mean, yeah, they can be kind of d–ks once in a while,” she added.

Gwyneth Paltrow has historically kept her children out of the spotlight, but in recent times Apple especially has started to appear more and more in her mother’s social posts. In fact, the actress was scolded in the comments of one photo by her daughter for posting the image without her consent.

Paltrow obviously learnt her lesson, as on Mother’s Day this year the Oscar-winner posed with both of her photogenic kids, saying, “Thank you to my two beauties for the best morning, and for my entire life. I love you both so much. I love all you mamas out there! Happy Mother’s Day!!”

The media often follows the goings-on of the Paltrow’s extended family through Derek Blasberg’s social media feed. Back in April, the YouTube Fashion and Beauty Director posted a photo of himself with Paltrow and her ex-husband, Chris Martin’s, girlfriend, Dakota Johnson, which confirmed that the two women were actually friends.
