Gypsy Rose Blanchard announces pregnancy just months after prison release

Gypsy Rose Blanchard has announced that she is expecting her first child with her partner Ken Urker just months after her release from prison.

The 32 year old was freed from her prison cell on December 28 after serving seven years of a 10-year sentence for her involvement in the murder of her mother, Dee Dee Blanchard.

Just months later, she broke the news that she is now becoming a mother for the first time on her YouTube channel in a video titled, "I'm Pregnant, My Journey So Far".

In the video, posted on July 9, Gypsy addressed the speculation by confirming: "...and I'm happy to announce, I'm 11 weeks pregnant."

She revealed that she and Ken are looking forward to welcoming their new addition in January 2025.

Despite the pregnancy being unexpected, Gypsy expressed her excitement about motherhood.

Anticipating criticism, she said: "I know that there are going to be people who feel like I'm not ready to be a mother and I don't know if anyone's really ready to be a mother."

Visibly moved, Gypsy shared her aspirations: "All the things that I wanted in a mother, I want to give to this baby.

"I am a mother now, I am happy, and I just want to be a good mother for my child. I want to be everything my mother wasn't."

Her mother, Dee Dee, had Munchausen syndrome by proxy, now known as factitious disorder imposed on another, and forced Gypsy to undergo numerous unnecessary medical procedures, convincing everyone that Gypsy was gravely ill when she was actually healthy.

Dee was brutally murdered by Gypsy's ex-boyfriend Nicholas Godejohn on June 10, 2015. Following their apprehension, both Godejohn and Gypsy admitted to the killing.

Godejohn, who carried out the murder, received a life sentence with the possibility of parole for his conviction of first-degree murder.

Gypsy faced a second-degree murder charge for her role in orchestrating her mother's murder and was handed a 10-year prison term. She was released early last year after serving seven years.

During her time behind bars, Gypsy became engaged to Ken, whom she had corresponded with through letters since 2018, although they ended their engagement prior to her release.

After getting out, Gypsy briefly married Ryan Anderson, but the marriage quickly dissolved.

Earlier this year, Gypsy opened up about rekindling her relationship with Ken.

In an interview with People magazine, she revealed: "Ken and I reconnected as friends. It wasn't like, jump out of a marriage and then let me meet up with you, and boom, we're in a relationship.

"We had kept a friendship for the longest time. He was in a relationship. I was with Ryan, and so we were living different lives with respect to our partners, a 'wish you the best' type of thing."

After her split from Ryan, Ken became a pillar of support for Gypsy during her difficult times, rekindling their former bond.

Gypsy admitted: "Ken was that support for me when going through this emotional hardship of crying and then being okay and then crying.

"Then I let myself open up to the feelings that I've always had for Ken. Those feelings just don't die. I would say that Ken is my first love because that's when I honestly felt like a mature love.

"It wasn't based off of a fantasy. It was actually based on a connection that two people have for each other."

Since her release, Gypsy has undergone a dramatic transformation.

The expectant star, who features in the new documentary series 'Gypsy Rose: Life After Lockup', opted for a nose job earlier this year as part of her journey to reclaim her life after a childhood marred by her mother's oppressive control over her body and medical choices.

A source confided to In Touch the reasons behind Gypsy's decision to alter her nose, explaining it had always been a point of self-consciousness for her and she felt it was too large for her face.

The insider noted that following the extreme abuse at the hands of her mother, changing her appearance is a way for Gypsy to heal from her past traumas.

But Gypsy's transformation isn't limited to rhinoplasty; she's also taken steps to improve her dental health. Her mother, Dee Dee, had previously removed several of her teeth and salivary glands.

Now, Gypsy is adopting a more polished look, sporting elegant blonde highlights and bold red lipstick.

In May, Gypsy opened up to her TikTok audience about her stance on cosmetic enhancements.

She shared her satisfaction with her appearance, saying: "So I've been asked this before, if I wanted to get more plastic surgery done, and I honestly don't."

Emphasising her body positivity, she continued, "I am very happy with everything else that's on my body. I'm happy with my figure; I have a very womanly figure, I have curves, I have boobs.

"I'm very proud of those. I would not change anything about myself, other than the nose job I had and I'm done."
