A man has appeared at the Old Bailey accused of murdering his girlfriend, who was found dead in a car.

Police launched an inquiry after Kennedi Westcarr-Sabaroche, 25, was found dead in the Vauxhall vehicle in Whiston Road, Hackney, east London, on Saturday morning.

Her boyfriend, Gogoa Tape, 27, who lived in the street where she was found, was subsequently arrested and on Sunday was charged with her murder.

The cause of Ms Westcarr-Sabaroche's death remains under investigation.

On Wednesday, Tape made his first appearance at the Old Bailey by video-link from Thameside Prison.

Judge Alexia Durran set a timetable for the case, with a plea hearing on June 26 and a provisional two-week trial from February 3 2025.

She remanded the defendant into custody.
