Jean-Clair Todibo has confirmed there have been talks over his future amid reported interest from Manchester United.

Todibo has enjoyed another fine season with French club Nice and his performances are said to have attracted interest from Premier League sides United and Tottenham.

The centre-back started 30 games in Ligue 1 as Nice qualified for the Europa League and his links with United have intensified since Sir Jim Ratcliffe's investment at Old Trafford.

The British billionaire also owns Nice, which suggests striking a deal with United should be straightforward, especially considering Todibo seems open to a move.

Todibo has regularly discussed his future this season and there is a strong feeling in France he could be sold this summer.

In an interview with The Telegraph on Monday, Todibo was asked whether he'd spoken to either United or Spurs about a transfer this summer and was coy with his response.

“Honestly, I don’t want to talk about [my future] because of my respect for the fans here and the club also. But we had a little discussion, for sure," he said.

“I was 18 when I went to Barcelona. Now I am 24, I am married, I have two kids. My mind is different. I am a national team player. I have to think a little bit more.

"The life that I want to have means I’m much more thoughtful about what I do. My ambition is to play in the best competitions in the world and try to be the best version of me. Try to be the best defender, for sure, that I can be.”

Todibo spent a week on trial at United in 2016 and also visited Nottingham Forest. "It was a good experience," he said of his United trial. "I discovered a little bit what the professional world was like."

Raphael Varane played his last game for United in the FA Cup victory against Manchester City and his departure has signalled the beginning of the defensive upheaval.

Victor Lindelof has one year left on his contract with United and the club will listen to offers for him this summer, while a decision is required on the future of Jonny Evans.

Evans was signed on a 12-month contract after initially training with United to maintain fitness and could be rewarded with another short-term deal, despite being 36.
