Nearly six in ten Brits admit to using their phone on the toilet, new research has revealed – with youngsters far more likely to do it than older generations.

A new YouGov Realtime survey revealed that 57% of Brits admit to using their phone on the loo, with 8% saying they “always” do it and another 14% saying it’s something they do “most times”.

The habit is even more common with younger Britons, the research showed, with 61% of 18-29-year-old men saying they use their phone every time or ‘most times’ that they go to the loo, along with 44% of women of the same age.

Overall, 86% of men and 84% of women under 30 say they do it to some extent, the data showed.

In contrast, figures drop as people get older, with just 33% of men aged over 60 and 22% of women the same age saying they ever use their phone while sitting on the loo.

The poll also showed that there’s a difference when it comes to men and women using their mobile on the toilet – with men across all generations consulting their phones more frequently than women.
