Hamilton Accies kicked off their pre-season programme with a comfortable win over Cumbernauld Colts at New Douglas Park.

As part of a home double-header that also sees the Championship newcomers play a select team against Gala Fairydean Rovers, Accies threw on mostly first-team players, with a trialist and youngster Liam Morgan.

The game was over as a contest by half-time, allowing Hamilton boss John Rankin to make several changes after the hour-mark.

That allowed Findlay Cameron to add a fourth late in the game.

Lee Kilday had Hamilton comfortably ahead in 32 minutes with two terrific strikes, against a hard-working Colts side that had flashes of menace of their own.

Scott Martin added a third just before half-time to further turn the screw on the Lowland League side

After Connor Murray had gone close with an audacious overhead kick attempt, Accies took the lead in seven minutes when Murray's corner from the right was smashed in by Kilday at the near post.

Accies had the ball in the net again in 15 minutes, but it was disallowed for an earlier offside.

Stephen Hendrie tried to turn provider for Liam Morgan in 27 minutes, but it was just too far ahead of him.

Euan Henderson had the ball in the net in 31 minutes, but fell foul of what must have been a tight offside.

But Kilday doubled his and Hamilton's lead in 32 minutes with a terrific looping header that soared over Colts keeper Yan Godik.

Martin mugged a defender to break into the box, and kept his composure before slotting low into the net.

Hamilton made the usual raft of changes in 61 minutes, changing their line-up entirely and throwing on youngsters like Chris Neeson, Lewis Hodgkiss and Gravine Kalala.

Colts tried to take advantage of that in 68 minutes but Robvbie McGale saw his netbound shot booted off the line.

Cumbernauld boss David Proctor made several changes in 69 minutes, to give his squad a run-out.

Lewis Latona had the ball in the back of the net for Accies in 76 minutes, but was flagged offside.

With 10 minutes remaining Colts made another raft of changes.

Accies notched their fourth goal in 83 minutes when Latona and Lewis Hodgkiss combined to set up Cameron, and his shot squired under keeper Steven Kearney and into the bottom left corner.
