Hamilton Accies boss John Rankin and assistant Darian MacKinnon are believed to have agreed long-term contract extensions with the club.

As was alluded to in a fans’ forum yesterday, a New Douglas Park source said the duo's new deal will keep them at the club for several years, and it is expected that Accies will confirm this early next week.

Hamilton Accies owner Seref Zengin’s ultimate aim is to restore the club back to the top flight of Scottish football, and he believes the current management duo will deliver that target.

A club source said: “John will be here next season, as part of Seref’s project to get the club back to the Premiership and an eventual top-six place.

“It’s a long-term deal that has been signed.”
