Hamilton superfan proposed to on stage in Edinburgh in special moment

A Hamilton superfan got the the surprise of a lifetime when she was proposed to in an incredible moment on stage at the Festival Theatre in Edinburgh.

Luke popped the question to fiancee Francesca following the show on Wedneday where the hit musical is runing in the capital, Edinburgh Live reports.

Francesca described as a "dream come true" after being a huge fan since discovering it back in 2016. She even has Hamilton decor around her home.

Luke organised a night she wouldn't forget by contatcing the theatre ahead of time. He organised a brief backstage tour after the show. While she thought they were getting a few snaps on the stage, he got down on one knee.

Luke even managed to work a quote from the show into his proposal. Francesca said she "couldn't have imagined a better proposal", even telling the Festival Theatre staff she hoped it wasn't "all a dream".

She added: "We have been dating since July 2022, and our friends and family always said Luke would never be able to top our third date which was the EUROS woman's football final at Wembley Stadium in London, but I think Luke saw that as a challenge!

"I have absolutely loved Hamilton since first discovering it in 2016, before it even came to the West End. I have lots of Hamilton decor in my home and know all the lyrics off by heart! We had seen that Hamilton was in Edinburgh at the same time we had planned to be on holiday here.

"So, Luke excitedly booked it for us at the Festival Theatre, then reached out to them without me knowing. I really couldn't have imagined a better proposal!"

Explaining how he pulled it off, Luke said: "Here's how it went. I told Francesca I had arranged for a brief backstage tour and a few photos to be taken to on the stage after the show. Kim McKenna was amazing in helping organise this for me.

"We were posing for a photo when I then said (quoting some Hamilton lyrics): Here we are in the "room where it happened" and "I'm not throwing away my shot" - So, I'm going to ask you.. (gets down on one knee) "Francesca, will you marry me?"

"Francesca's reaction was incredibly positive and she felt it was a dream come true! She was pretty lost for words but managed a "yes!!" and later she said to Festival Theatre staff member, Kim, "I really hope this isn't all just a dream!"

"As we were presented with a bottle of bubbly and the news that the cast had been cheering for us alongside all the Festival Theatre Staff. A wonderful experience overall."
