Tyler Cameron ranks among the most beloved contestants in the history of The Bachelorette – but things were almost very different.

On the Bachelor Happy Hour podcast, Hannah Brown, who led season 15 of the dating show, reflected on her first impression of Cameron, who was the runner-up on her season.

Though he went on to steal Bachelor Nation's hearts, Cameron, 31, wasn't much of a charmer on night one.

"So the thing about Tyler... I thought he was drunk or something was wrong with him when we first [met]," Brown, 29, admitted on the podcast. "I was like, is this guy...? Like, I asked the producers to check on him. I was like, I think there's something going on."

Looking back, Brown thinks Cameron "was just nervous," but recalled that "his eyes were barely open," and she didn't know what to think.

"I'm like, is this guy here with us? I'm not sure. He is obviously attractive, but people, of course, always ask me about the top people in my [mind] that I ended up having connections with. And there wasn't actually a connection with him the first night."

The podcast hosts, Joe Amabile and Serena Pitt — who met on Bachelor in Paradise and are now married — asked if Cameron almost got "cut" on night one.

"I almost did, because I didn't talk [to him]," Brown admitted.

While Brown ended up getting engaged to another suitor, Jedd Wyatt, at the end of her season of The Bachelorette, their relationship ended quickly, and she revealed she was open to pursuing Cameron again.

Things didn't work out between them, though, and Brown told PEOPLE she was "deeply hurt" by Cameron's actions — as he was photographed out with Gigi Hadid days after they'd spent a night together — and that she felt he "rejected" her, though they were not officially "together or openly dating."

"Just from the conversations we'd had, it was so shocking — and so public," she recalled.

When the pandemic began, Brown ended up quarantining with Cameron and his friends in Florida for several months, all while she and Cameron "were both hurting really bad."

"There was nothing romantic about that time. We didn't even kiss! And it was really confusing because I told him I still had feelings for him and he rejected me," she said.

After weeks of quarantining together, she left, and the pair stopped speaking for awhile.

Now, she's happily engaged to Adam Woolard, while Cameron remains at the top of ABC's list for potential future leads of The Bachelor.

He admitted he's been asked "probably about four, five times" to helm the series during an April appearance on Watch What Happens Live, and while he'll "never say never," it hasn't panned out so far.

"My theory in life is to tell the greatest story you can tell. Maybe one day, down the road, it could be a cool story, but not right now," he told Andy Cohen.
