Update: Gunn has now revealed all of Nathan Fillion's cameo posters for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2.

The film posters spoof The Toxic Avenger, Inception, Horns, Conan and Definitely, Maybe.

Original story: A degree of uncertainty has been revolving around Nathan Fillion's planned cameo in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2. We knew that it had been cut from the film, but what was it going to be exactly?

Fear not! Writer/director James Gunn is here to explain all.

He confirmed on Facebook that Fillion was going to play Simon Williams, a Hollywood actor and the superhero Wonder Man. Although 'play' isn't exactly accurate.

"In a small flash to Earth I decided to put a theatre playing a 'Simon Williams Film Festival', with six Simon Williams movie posters outside," said Gunn.

"Obviously, from the posters, he's had a run of B movies. Most of them in themselves are Easter eggs of some sort or another. Unfortunately, the small section of the scene where they appeared slowed down the movie and I had to cut the Easter eggs from the film (along with storefronts named after comic book luminaries Starlin, Mantlo, Annett and others)."

The poster Gunn revealed shows Fillion as Williams as Tony Stark in a film parodying Danny Boyle's Michael Fassbender-starring Steve Jobs.

The filmmaker said that he will continue to post pictures of the six posters over the coming days.

"Equally a bummer was that a lot of people took photos of these posters on the day so suddenly every fan site was reporting that Nathan was playing Wonder Man in the movie," Gunn continued. "He was even the third-billed actor on IMDb."

As for the previous image of Fillion seen, that was him in one of his costumes sat in the cockpit of the Guardians' ship, the Milano.

Fillion had an obscure cameo in the first Guardians of the Galaxy as the voice of an inmate in the Kyln, as Marvel Studios continues to find a proper role for him.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 is out now.
