Harborough, Oadby and Wigston General Election results announced

The people of Harborough, Oadby and Wigston have chosen their MP. Neil O'Brien Conservative candidate has held the seat as the constituency’s representative in Parliament.

Mr O'Brien beat five other candidates to win the vote. It was a close run, with polls prior to election day swinging between a Labour and Conservative win.

But the Conservative candidate held onto his seat in the Harborough, Oadby and Wigston constituency. The party secured 18,614 votes.

Hajira Hanif Piranie came second with 16,236 votes and Danuta Bernadette Jeeves third with 6,332 votes. Turnout was 65.64 per cent.

Hajira Hanif Piranie, Labour – 16,236

Phil Knowles, Liberal Democrats – 4,732

Darren Woodiwiss, Green Party – 4,269

Neil O'Brien, Conservative Party – 18,614

Danuta Bernadette Jeeves, Reform UK – 6,332

Robin Lambert, Social Democratic Party – 203
