The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have taken their second private jet trip in the space of a week, it has been reported.

It comes as Harry and Meghan are under increasing scrutiny for their travel arrangements as they continue to campaign for lowering carbon emissions.

The Sun reported that the royal couple flew to the south of France just days after returning from Ibiza. Prince Harry also flew by private jet to Sicily at the end of last month for a climate change conference.

It said their trip to Nice created seven times more carbon emissions per person than a commercial flight.

They arrived in France last Wednesday with their three-month-old son Archie on a 12-seater Cessna aircraft, the Sun reported.

They went to France just days after returning from a trip to Ibiza, where they stayed in a luxury villa.

Harry was criticised for taking a private jet to a Google summit on climate change in Sicily in July.

Labour MP Teresa Pearce told the Sun: “Given the position they have taken publicly about being responsible on climate change, this does seem an anomaly which they should look at.

“It’s up to all of us to cut our carbon emissions, and the number of flights we take a year.

“That is really important — and someone as high profile as that should lead by example.

“I find this quite surprising because it doesn’t fit with their public image and the way they’re so concerned about the planet and the environment.”

Earlier this month, Prince Harry told Vogue magazine that he and Meghan had planned to have no more than two children for environmental reasons.

“I’ve always thought, this place is borrowed,” he said.

“And, surely, being as intelligent as we all are, or as evolved as we all are supposed to be, we should be able to leave something better behind for the next generation.”

In an Instagram post last month, Harry wrote: “With nearly 7.7 billion people inhabiting this Earth, every choice, every footprint, every action makes a difference.”

The Duke and Duchess flew to Ibiza with Archie on August 6 by private jet and returned on August 12, in a trip to celebrate the Duchess’s birthday.
